Welcome to my website / new blog. I’m Tanja, the crafty bitch behind Tanjan. At the moment crafting and artisanship is mostly a hobby to me and I earn my keep as a executive manager at the local small YWCA. I hope to become part time professional artist and hobby craft tutor.

I am studying further qualifications of a craftsman at the Taitokeskus Jyväskylä. At the moment I have just launched my first ever solo art exhibition with the focus on recycled and waste materials. The exhibition is part of my competence demonstration for my qualifications.

The exhibition runs from today to 11th of March. During this time I will be updating this blog with information on the pieces I made. The stories behind them and comments on materials and techniques used.

Exhibitions usually offer some information on the artist and the work on display. I inserted this info into a collage piece made for the exhibition. It features pieces of my work from back when I was under ten to this day. The elfportraits are image transfers on cotton. I added some embroidery and embellishments.

Tervetuloa Tanjan nettisivulle ja uuteen blogiin. Osana käsityöntekijän ammattitutkinnon näyttöjä pidän kierrätystaidenäyttelyn tästä päivästä maaliskuun 11: een. Käsittelen lähiviikkoina blogissa töiden taustoja, tekniikoita ja materiaaleja.

Näyttelyissä on perinteisesti tarjolla tietoa tekijästä ja teoksista. Tein oman infotaulun kollaasityönä, jossa on paloja tekemistäni töistä. Vanhimmat ajalta kun olin alle 10 vuotta vanha. Omakuvat työssä on tehty kuvansiirtona puuvillalle ja koristeltu kirjomalla ja lisäämällä kehykset ja koristeluja kuten helmiä.
